Dear MOMS’ community members,

I want to reach out to all of you to give you as much of an update as I can on what the immediate future of the MOMS’ community will look like.
MOMS will not be meeting for the forseeable future, possibly even until next September. I will continue to focus on telephone and email support. In cases where I need assistance with this work, I will ask Merry Carol (as our spiritual mentor), to provide me with support and back up in caring for you by phone or email. Please let me know if you believe that you may have been exposed to Covid 19 and are in quarantine or receiving medical treatment so that we can do our best to care for you at a distance and keep you in our prayers.
One of our community members, Fiona Henderson, has set up a What’s App chat for those who have kids and are responsibly adhering to social distancing, but want to share online support for one another. Please let her or I know if you would like to be added to this chat so that we can invite you. I will also do my best to update our MOMS’ Facebook group with some of the resources which she has been collating along with the help of her community of friends since there are some great ideas already mentioned.
Some of us have also joined a Facebook group which is seeking to care for people who may be at additional risk of contracting the Corona virus. To join that group, click here.
Please let me know of other community connections and supports that we can share amongst us.
With prayers,

Weekly Meetings

Each Wednesday at MOMS, we gather for coffee or tea, a snack and some conversation. We have time to mix and mingle, and get to know one another better, while the children play freely.

Our programming is varied, and driven by our interests; each week we participate in a different activity or discussion. On a monthly basis, a community health nurse or health specialist responds to our questions about individual and family health and safety, and our spiritual mentor guides us through creative prayer and reflection. During the alternate weeks we create a seasonal art project or craft, share together in a spa day, or participate in exercise or parenting and life skills discussions, such as financial literacy or conflict resolution.

Activities and toys are central to our childcare programming; while the adults meet, our children are cared for lovingly. At the end of our day we all eat a delicious lunch, prepared for us by a volunteer cook.

We gather in the hall and living room at Grandview Church, 1803 East 1st Avenue in Vancouver. Enter via the kitchen entrance, on the left side of the building, off Salsbury Drive. Once a month, we participate in arts and crafts activities, hosted by Co:Here at 1723-1725 Victoria Drive (at the corner with East 1st Avenue).
