COVID UPDATE

Since March of 2020, MOMS has shifted from a programming focus to an emphasis on one-to-one relational support. This is the continued priority for our women with high schoolers or adult children.

Weekly Meetings

Since February of 2022 we have begun reestablishing our rhythm of having our young mothers with infants through elementary aged children meeting weekly at the church hall for coffee or tea, a snack, and some conversation. During this time we are enjoying the opportunity to reconnect and look through donated items, while the preschoolers play freely.

Prior to COVID our programming was varied and driven by our interests; each week we participated in a different activity or discussion. On a bi-monthly basis, a community health professional responded to our questions about individual and family health and safety, our spiritual mentor guided us through creative prayer and reflection. During the alternate weeks we created seasonal art projects or crafts, shared together in a spa day, participated in exercise or engaged in parenting and life skills discussions, such as financial literacy or conflict resolution.

Location

We gather in the hall and living room at Grandview Church, 1803 East 1st Avenue in Vancouver. Enter via the kitchen entrance, on the left side of the building, off Salsbury Drive.

Our Schedule

Currently, our young mothers with infants through elementary aged children are meeting weekly Thursdays from 10 am to 12 noon. Our women with high schoolers or adult children are meeting once a month on Tuesdays from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm for a guided art session.
